Specialisms | SEND Teaching (KS1) |
---|
Laura is currently a year 2 teacher and has worked at Leeming RAF Primary since January 2018, however her passion for supporting pupils with SEND and other additional needs within a mainstream setting began before that.
Working at Leeming RAF Primary School has given Laura the chance to further develop her skillset through structured CPD, networking with a range of professionals and developing her own strategies to support the needs of all pupils in an environment with high pupil mobility, numbers of SEND, pastoral needs and other complexities of service life.
Laura has experience of implementing manageable routines that reduce anxiety and cognitive load, positive behaviour management strategies and has developed a number of bespoke curriculum offers to multiple of children without lots of additional staffing. Her experience in this area isn’t limited to KS1; she has also taught classes with challenging/complex needs in LKS2.
On a number of occasions, Laura has supported other teachers with managing challenging behaviour/SEN and implementing strategies that support learning for all across the school; with a particular focus on high impact for the children while keeping it manageable for school staff.
In addition to the above, Laura has a keen interest in using technology in the primary classroom; with a particular focus on documenting learning and positive parental engagement through the use of platforms such as Seesaw.
