Headteacher's View - Imposter Syndrome

Imposter SyndromeA number of our headteachers have have mentioned experiencing 'Imposter Syndrome'.  This is a persistent feeling of self-doubt, often despite evidence of success and achievements.  These feelings often occur during quiet times out of school.

One headteacher commented:

"While it pushes me to work hard and stay reflective, it can also undermine my self-belief. I often question whether I’m making enough of a difference for my pupils, staff and the school community or living up to my role as an educator. It's not something that affects me during the school day when I can think rationally; it tends to be at night time when I'm trying to sleep! "
